Seemed like an ordinary day.

The sun was shining,

People starting another work day,

For some it would be their last.

The twin towers stood tall and proud.

Many workers getting ready

Within these walls where they work.

Suddenly lives were lost.

Chaos and pandemonium-

Fire and smoke and infernal noise.

The building shook to its foundation.

No one knew what had happened.

Some that were trapped in the fire,

Jumped to their deaths, rather than burn,

Firefighters and policeman tried to save lives,

But then it happened. The building collapsed.

First one tower, then the next, pancaked down.

Screams were now silenced.

Smoke and debris was everywhere,

People scurried for their lives.

Captured on film, it was a horror,

To witness the carnage and loss of lives.

Terrorist had taken over three planes

And two were successful in raming the towers.

The third plane was brought down

By the brave passangers within.

They stormed the terrorist pilots,

And caused the plane to crash.

Today is a memorial to all Americans who

Lost their lives on that infamous day.

They will always be remembered in our prayers,

For the life they gave on that day.

Very well written. My cousin brother too was there attending some meeting but fortunately he escaped. Feel very sad for the lives lost.

Yes, like Pearl Harbor, 9/11 is a day that will go down in infamy.

Thermonuclear Rikki-Tikki-Tavi: The Parallax War by Thomas Yeggy

This book explores how U.S. presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy failed to stand up to Soviet aggression during the early Cold War—despite America's overwhelming nuclear advantage.
