Shattered Glass
Shattered glass
a thousand images starring at me
-- Peter McMillen
Shattered glass
a thousand images starring at me
as though I am alone
the only one they see.
My dreams large stones of still life.
At night they watch me,
question
who,
what I am.
Laughter loud in darkness,
(eyes see into the bright white of night)
becoming once more
soft light to see by,
walking hand out
slow,
stumbling over hard floors,
aged face
before adored
as a smile
once seen at sunset.
