alright

i’ll play your game

for now

although i think you will make sure

that i fail

somehow inconsequential

to my actions

or inaction

i don’t know how to say what i’m feeling

but i’m much more afraid

of what i am not feeling -

nothing

void

just a great lack of emotion

i’m fearful that i have reached that point

of no return

i know exactly when the void set in

there while driving on the darkened pacific coast highway

my eyes were on the rainy road

but i was all ears

and what i was hearing was atrocious

i was stunned

just stunned

to hear what fell from your mouth

you!

your mouth!!!

the mouth that used to taste

the shimmering waves

of this body

that same mouth ranted

that mouth screamed concepts

that i thought were long dead

ideas that you failed to profess

that you possessed

back before i knew about complicated

so alright

i’ll play your game for a while

a very, very short while

but it may already be

too late for you

and too late

for me too

Great description of a relationship gone sour. Very well done.
