Our Later Party


Relishing another birthday
brings you back in secrets
we shared only after family
celebrated yours or mine

At bedtime our sanctuary
saw a more personal gift
offered and received that
was far more intimate

Lounging on the bed or
at times under the covers
a special birthday gift to
one expressing deep love

Before our sweet talk
and goodnight kiss a poem
written for the day and
read in breathless whispers
