The red-tail hawk waited long minutes
for a bit of food while hidden in a tree
A large beetle began crawling in sight
he waited until his prey was closer
Poised for the kill and a good meal
his body stiffened swooping down
In a double flash a female hawk
plucked the beetle into her claws
As if she had not seen him her meal
was consumed as he fumed nearby
A consoling act began with her flying
over toe sit with the still hungry loser
