Cashless Love


February 14th
brings you back
along with
remembering
the poverty of
newly-weds

All bills paid
plus a month's
rent take away
cash even for
eating burgers
at Crystal's

After work
riding the
streetcar home
we accept not
eating out but
snacking in

With red and
white paper
cut and folded
our hearts say
what's important
to each of us

Two Valentine's
wait quietly
while we mix
a sweet sealer
and press
them together
