A Third Grade Christmas
Miss Hale taught the third grade kids,
She helped them all in all they did,
When Christmas day was drawing near
She held a party day of cheer,
The kids were happy and full of fun,
They traded gifts with everyone,
A gay Piñata was the class surprise,
And when it broke Miss Hale was wise,
She gave the children, each a few,
Of all the gifts and candy too,
But then she thought when she was through,
I’m missing someone , surely who?
She had given every child a share,
But one little boy who wasn’t there,
She said now ,”Please, your attention class,
There’s one little favor I must ask,
Little Joe’s not here , today he’s ill,
And we need his Christmas bag to fill,
All was quiet , they turned her way,
Just for a moment and stopped their play,
Now kids love candy, and that’s alright,
Just try and take it, You’ve got a fight,
But parents be proud, if you haven’t heard,
They all came forward without a word,
Each with a handout, filled with the best,
Of their Christmas candy, better than the rest,
They offered their all, though the didn’t have a lot,
All for the one little boy they forgot,
Our school’s not big in most peoples eyes,
And we’re not famous, we all realize,
But the real Christmas spirit is here and it’s bright,
We may not be perfect, but we did something right.
