Sometimes a look will inspire me to take a deeper and more personal look.
The Face of God
Taking first place, to look in God’s face has always been mankind’s desire
But the older we grow, the more that we know is far greater than , what we require
How can you believe ,and only perceive of a creator with the ultimate skill,
To create all things alive, with the ability to survive, in a world built to his perfect will,
I’ll give you your dues and listen to your views and theories that offer solution
I’ll even go so far as to grant you there are, many signs of distinct evolution
But in our whole universe so big and diverse, I bring you this one fact to light,
There is no way with all the science of today to create the Miracle of life,
The Creator, supreme, beyond the wildest of dreams, determined our every detail,
He laid out a plan, for the lifetime of man, but herein is where he would fail,
His own image he used ,trusting it wouldn’t be abused, if he gave man a free thinking mind,
With choices to make and pathways to take that led to success; every kind,
But it wasn’t too long that he found he was wrong. Mankind would sink into sin,
Few would receive, his words and believe, that God made the world they live in.
But all was not lost, God knew the cost, and gave man this one thing inside
You see, From the start , He gave man a heart, where all of his feelings reside,
And so there they stay, , to be sheared every day with anyone heeding a call,
Compassion concern and sincerity we learn, are the keys that bring help above all
Gravely ill and far down, my friend came around, With sadness his ol’heart was breaking,
This friend was so true like so very few with feelings laid bare for my taking,
Sincere with his love ; asked help from above and prayed for relief of my hurting,
I wish I could say they all went away; some did, of that I am certain
But the greatest thing would come, when I realized from , where came the vision I’d see,
My friend stood there praying, his open heart saying God would take care of me
His face I still see with compassion for me, his big heart and love without end
Like a bright lightening rod , I saw the real face of God, there in the face of my friend !

I see no value in placing my responsibility in the hands of an unknown god. God was created out of the necessity to understand who we are, why we are the way we are and most of all, why we fear. In early times when most religions with their gods got started, life was much more dangerous than it is now. Prayer was the only answer to wild animals, illness, starvation, heat and cold that could kill quickly with great pain and suffering. Most religions have a god figure that has designed the universe (the many stars above and all of the land around) and destiny. Again, most religions have some form of afterlife for reincarnation as a salve for all the misery and this life.
Our life today still has its miseries, but none of the immediate dangers above except if we engage in dangerous behavior. Still, we all die and usually suffer before we die. So we cling to a simple and easy solution. If we only pray, God will take care. If things don't turn out the way we thought, it is God's will (plan). If things turn out the way we wanted, it's another miracle reinforcing our belief that God answers our prayers.
