This is an attempt at a song, I was attending a funeral and listen to a widow telling everyone how great her husban was, first time, I ever heard her say anything good about him....

How much pain will hold you
Until the day I die
this I will question but I don’t
want to know why

In the hours of our living
seldom do you do
anything but cry but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day I die

Wonder of the birth of children
in my tired loving eyes
angels continue to guide me but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day I die

Stop down at the bar room
drink my fill of the lies but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day I die

Work all of my evenings
long times into the day but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day I die

Raised three that are
a blessing to the world but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day I die

Each day you add more burdens
tearing away my insides but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day I die

I ask what I did to deserve this
Here is your reply, you married me but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day I die

A candle burns on both ends of the lie
and the tears are all gone now, but
just how much pain will hold you
until the day that I die

They close the lid on the coffin
as my soul floats to the sky
I hear the widow talking’
telling those sweet widow lies

Just how much…

I agree with Tinka. Powerful write. Your use of repetition drives the theme. Nice job.

Coffee is good, I need mine before I write, I had known this couple most of my life, both from childhood, at least for 50 years, peace. Walt

I wonder how you know about other's feelings. How do you determine that her husband was not good, and that she was lying. If she says her husband was good, then it's her choice and freedom to think that her husband was good. You are not her, how can you know about her hubby?

You're judging others too much with your own presumption.

Not that I am talking about myself and my husband. My hubby is still very much alive; and he is the best.

Peace to you,

Sandie Angel :o)
