Some thoughts last forever

With fingers froze to the trigger

Eyes burned deep into the night

Slivers of a memory lost in

Dawn’s early light



Minds playing tricks in the brink

Feel the morning slip eyes cry

Only the tired pounding of

a never-ending rain



Movement in the shadows

marching chants of dreams

Lost all feeling in the legs again

Dare not move



Horizon lingers just above the call

Rounds of explosives all around

touching off the flames all consuming

not a breath on the air



Living bombs running everywhere

Child headed for heaven dropping

Mechanical now feelings lost

only life not living



Stacks of mourning on a field of death

calls the last of trying in a lonely quest

Take the middle I bring up the rear

sweep is complete



Warmth of fire loosens the grip

words not spoken enough of this

Shadows leave and sun burns bright

Weapon mind and hand one
