In the old days they treated TB with isolation, children were kept in cottages, taken from family and Adults in hospital room. A very difficult time.

They talk about what purgatory is in books
I have been there and it hurts

There is calmness about the night of first we meet
In inside this quite room a pack between us set
Mirror on the wall recalls it so well in my heart
The world is standing still joined are we by blood

Blackness of night takes away the need to hide
I have seen and felt my pride

You were ten and I was nine a older wiser you
From our bond a new world was out of rules to chose
Special was that bond in a room filled with hate
For us it was more than a hospital a cottage gate

Grandfather left a treat for me at the desk
Father is in the big building getting sleep

Dearest friend I stand now at the place you left
Parents took you so far away and my heart with you went
Years have passed in growing old and hearts sing a song
It was the midnight raids that allowed me to move on

No joy was greater than when I held you in my arms
A team we were to be reconed with

Heard your voice so loud and clear calling me please help
I threw myself at the nurse as she ripped the gum from your scalp
Tumbling down to the floor I was banded from your room
Your parents came the next day and took you, I stayed, my doom

It was December when from this place they let me leave
Returning once a year for tubes stuffed down

Strange as life is, I bumped into you in a store, old but blue eyes stared
I reached out for you and talked like nobody else was there
Words came so fast do not remember all that was said you start I answered
So much to catch so little time I held you like the world was cured

My sister in blood, my long escaping friend inside my soul
Our special bond will never disappear

Time to leave our fingers touched against old scars
In the wonder of your face I saw a million stars
A kiss laid careful on my cheek in sweet memory
Takes me safely back when both my heart and soul were free
