Backed the wrong man it is a long walk back to reality

Sheriff finds me asleep in a car

Lost on a side road darken by fallen dreams

****

Dance in the mind of sand

Keep faith in the band of land

Scream at shadow dream

Deal the feel of a sad sandman

****

Kitten left me to see every child

Sun looks to see me reaching a new low

****

Dreams are kept in the bottle by the bed

Pick a tick on a strum in old ten

Voice melted with guitar whiskey belted

Black as black played and stayed with me

****

Country old danced the floor with swing door

Stings ring and almost sing me to sleep

****

If you lose the ideal where do you look

For the hope of daydreams to reach

Tipped my hat and that was that

You said melody born in air dead

****

We talked music until you cried

Watched my hero fall last call

Drink to sober fool it turns to be you

Placed the guitar in the case not to be opened again

****

Walked the lonesome road to responsibility
