Which path is free of emotion, none!

Oh blood of my fathers

how can it be to see

the drift across a

burning sea

Oh love of my soul

what is it I hold

that was more than life

more precious than gold

Oh death what lingers here

a dream of faith trips in tears

burn not the values of a trying soul

lift my body upward for God to hold

Oh faith where are you today

why is it my heart cries this way

perhaps the sun just fades to day

darkness is the shadow that seems to stay

Oh blood of my fathers

did you for see the grief

little children dying in the street

woman selling more than wares

Oh love of my soul

where do you find the truth

a book and candle forgotten in youth

pain in eyes of old men hanging on

Oh death why do you linger here

pestilence and trouble brought forth by fear

clip and powder drop angels to the sound

all my family by terror in the ground

Oh faith find me and ease my trouble mind

give back the dream so hard to find

touch me with a single drop of blood

prove that life is more than ash and mud
