An old clock on the wall ticks out my time

Angel’s come with a banshee on heals

Rent a carriage to escape flame and drink

Forgive is easy but forgetting takes more

As a highway stops in clear path

Death is waylaid blood on a blade

It cycle stilled

She holds me like a gift from heaven

Sweeter than a kiss of whiskey

Down at Joes run a way bar

Shiver like the warmth of embers lit

Brown eyes taking me to places of dreams

Bank takes me cold in the arms I wish to be in

Rank of life stops in pearls sold to fate

Dim single bulb of tribute lights is path in gold

Limb of first we met lingers just past dawn holding

Dine of self pause only long enough to kindle passion waiting

Wine of perfection fall on lips waiting hunger for body and soul

Clang of truth exists the valley steep in fears left taking

Gang takes me on a journey to be a free gift left hanging on

Gale blows past he rate of gates closed to all pleading seeking

Rail holds my hand as I toast the falling angel wings

Grain of sand picks me to comfort in blind rage left quiet

Sane as the bottles waiting patently for me to devour contents

Star of neon beckons me to the wild side of every wish lost in eyes gone

Bar takes me to edges of hope counting pleasures in mental images in floor

Year as sad as the grates in streets keeping the rhythm of rail lost

Clear night air frees me from the dunk and wisp of hate in Jim beam

Glee is the wisp of evil fading past pledges of method creeping

Tree of love keeps the message a live souls lived but minds and body died

Pails of tears test a presence not wanted or kept on tables let

Tales frail as eyes hold me in prayer seeing lest fight in a live

Pleasure placed in arms taking every inch of living

Treasure of her staves a retro place to be won

Hail feels a gift received in passage on the throne

Flail s all fades into dark of carriage death of ride

Epiphany by Gary Stephens

“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
