Vows, till death

Ice as cold as steel
Makes the world
A place to feel
Heart burned by
Day

Love has passed her by
Keeps the flowers anyway

Troubled mind to peace
Angels dust
Her soul keeps

Count the flowers
As the pedals
Hit the ground
Love and love me knots
Abound

It was so many years ago
In chapel on hill
They vowed to give
Body and soul

She was soon
Locked and walking slave
Body and heart she gave

He was animal
Driven by the anger
in his soul

Counting high his
stacks of gold
land and things
he never sold

She was just a thing
he won kept
by a ring

Days faded a way
she took his life
today

And the world will be broken
by the cries from on high
for the death of greed
so very hard dies

Into the dark she creeps
never finding
rest or sleep

Hills and piles of guilt
remain
still she carries his name

Ice as cold as steel
Makes the world
A place to feel
Heart burned by
Day

Love has passed her by
Keeps the flowers anyway

Judge looks at her with knowing eyes
Tells her she can go she is free

Still she cries

Owns all as far as the eye can see
But from her guilt and lonely
She can never be free

Silver stars light nights of everyday
Church and other people play
Wisp of wind comes then goes
Heart and eyes of steel know

It's burning deep inside
It's a sleep that never
Can die

Want and need live
Now she is just too old to try
Love and fate have passed her by

Walter,
Wow..Powerful write! This is one I wished I had written. Money cannot buy happiness and this poem proves it. All the land or gold in the world can't buy love. Very well written and creative, Walter. Outstanding!

Many blessings,
~Linda
