Date with fate

You will be sad as the stars cry at my gone
Body needing me to comfort heart want
Age will stop in time borrowed as light fades
As leaving turns to grieving I will be long gone
Strain of reason seasoned well turn passion
Your heaven my hell

Steeple claims lingering images of past
Hammer the last frail iron sword streams
Little edges of faith still the ire of like
Blame rips across temptation stole
Wilder grass grows to green bane
Candlewick burns slow in shadow
Love of book and ink writes wine
Hold from the tower spills blast
Political ambition strains each word
Hair as bright sunshine love as pure as youth
Draws forth desire beyond fame and king name
Wishes in moonlight break cascades of hope
Real is fate tickling past reason resting on a throne
Lingering beams of glow ride life issues to bleed

You will be sad as the stars cry at my gone
Body needing me to comfort heart want
Age will stop in time borrowed as light fades
As leaving turns to grieving I will be long gone
Strain of reason seasoned well turn passion
Your heaven my hell

Barbra Allen, Everly Brothers version
As time measures, so does age as the bard shares
Twas in the merry month of May
When flowers were a-bloomin'
Sweet Willie on his deathbed lay
For the love of Barbara Allen

He sent his servant to the town
The town where she did dwell in
Saying "Master dear has sent me here
It remained for Barbara Allen"

Then slowly slowly she got up
And slowly she went to him
And all she said when she got there
"Young man, I think you're dying"

"Oh don't you remember the other day
When we were in the tavern?
You drank your health to the ladies there
And you slighted Barbara Allen.....

Quite a profound retribution, methinks, Walt.! Well written, soft read, worthy time spent spent on both. Enjoyed, friend!
