Children often find seperation harder than parents, more so during the holidays

Doors slam in the night
Hear the pain see the fright
A child cries this night
Is daddy gone for good

Words are said
Child wishes she were dead
Mommy is the blame
What is in a name

Sleep comes hard
Christmas is here
Trees and lights
Christmas cheer

Child holds teddy tight
As sugar plums
Dance in the night
Grandpa kisses away her fright

Mom ma on a binge
Grandma cries in the dark
Pain swell in her heart
Why is it this way

Sitting on Santa’s lap
Pulling on his hat
Child asks for him to
Bring daddy back

Santa only smiles
Grandpa says we’ll see
Mom ma is in Re-hab
Daddy arrives in a cab

Gifts and love for his child
Stills her fear
Tells her she is better here
Till he can work it out

Christmas lights flicker and dim
Like the love in him
Love the child
But hates the mom

man..this is sooo true for so many families, i guess it's a testament to the times..you captured the fear of the child very well, this piece tugs at the heart, especially during this time of year. tell that truth, poet...and let us all resound...
