Cast upon the soft wet ground,
Colored leaves lay there...
scattered all around,
Like my mixture of thoughts...
about you;
Glistening;
with reflected sunlight...
Listening...
for any sign of breath from you;
for even softest touch,
from the petals of your hand...
upon my brow,
upon my shoulder,
allowing me...
to cry...
to you;
again --
as you had done,
so many times before:
You...
contemplating ...
the rustling leaves --
my ceaseless pain,
that covered me
like drenching rain...
Until with but a word,
whispered in my ear,
and but a touch;
you held me near,
and took away
my deepest fear.
You calmed the gale;
the tempest that assaulted me;
And we set sail,
on oceans vast...
at last...
set free.

Fantastic write.

I like the way this stanza sets the mood. The initial image is one of being left -- abandoned -- scattered (thoughts, feelings) but it also creates a vision of autum as a transcision into the loneliness of winter. Then you introduce a recollection -- how things used to be -- when we 'were' free, which closes the circle with the melancholy of autum. Excellent progression of thought!
