a chord of vengeance

by Jeff Mason — Read all 207 poems by Jeff Mason

sometimes things are wrongly 'taken' from us... and we must steel our resolve to remain focused on the things that matter most to us.

Saturday, March 29, 2008

revenge... its fever never dies
dripping tantalizing truth
amid the shattered shards of lies

alone, i dwell upon the surface
of this... unholy darkened orb

the blue i see
is not the ocean
nor that of boundless blissful skies
it is a deeper, darkened shade
reflected dimly on a sharpened blade

that tastes the blood... of lust
in every life it chooses to absorb

and you were TAKEN from me...
my life’s crowning glory;
from Heaven’s angels
you were born of more than ordinary dust...
the beginning... and the purpose my story

you were captured in the heat of battle
in plumes of smoke
that billowed thick

and i... the fool,
to fall for such an ordinary trick...
of mindless pseudo-noble treason

where grandest tales were told to me
in disenchanted reciprocity
yet i held fast to you,
the perfect center of my reason

and now the wind rings hollow
through my thoughts
as i admit that you are lost to me

and i have no hope of balance
without your steady rudder
and your visions brimming full
with crystal clarity

so here i vow not to lose sight of thee
and hold my gaze on future’s possibility
for some day, perchance
i shall have fate on board with me

but until that day
i shall continue to avenge
your unjust captivity
and smite the hand of he who tries to hold
your soul... unwillingly;

until your chains that bind
shall yield and burst
unto my passion’s fires that blind...
and ache for you with deepest thirst

that shall be quenched
by thee
in that most sacred moment
when my embrace at last
shall set you free.

Good Morning Jeff,

"until your chains that bind
shall yield and burst
unto my passion’s fires that blind...
and ache for you with deepest thirst

that shall be quenched
by thee
in that most sacred moment
when my embrace at last
shall set you free."

You Are A Very Gifted Poet of Passion.
I Thouroughly Enjoy Your Poetic Expressions

Isn't this a fine work here, Jeff. As for me, I wouldn't give myself enough credit for saving anyone. But at least we may help in partial doses.

Excellent, emotional, and cohesive write from start to finish. This would make a great 'live-read'.
