I cast about in shadows,
Searching for a deeper purpose for my life,

Always looking, Always trying;
Forever reaching for the light;

Never succeeding, Always failing;
For the shadows own the night.
The shadows overcome me as they drain away my life,

The darkness overtakes me as it saps away my might,
No strength remains inside me; I have no will with which to fight.

I lay here drowning in the shadows;
The pallid, lifeless shadows of the night;

Searching, Ever searching,
For a deeper purpose for my life.

Casting in the shadows as the darkness closes in;
The noise within my head becomes a painful pounding din.

Sadness overcomes me; depression is the only thing in sight,
As I cast about in shadows, I can no longer see the light.
