"Winter"by Taylor Rae Trenton.
Here's the challenge: Click on the link above for Taylor's Poem and pick a line or phrase, and make a poem from it, about winter, to give us a chill. It can be dark or bright, whatever, as long as it's about winter, and it 'chills' us. When picking a phrase or line, you can rearrange the words to fit your needs.
Icy Winter's Cage
the jagged sky is splintered,
like the pangs deep in my soul,
that hold my spirit hostage,
in a life so void and cold...
i refuse to turn the page
nor let pass another day
on heart's frigid forlorn stage
shiv'ring absent sun's kind ray
to heal frozen wounds of rage...
for spring's breath, i'd gladly pay;
autumn's leaves a bygone age;
summer's warmth is hid away...
icy winter's now my cage.
