Somber Is The Moonlit Sky

I wrote this the evening I took my son fishing. It was a special time in my life I will never forget. It's the simplest things we take for granted that become our ultimate pleasures.

 Somber is the moonlit sky

along the river's shore,
peaceful as a new born's sigh
creatures scurry the forest floor,
A fallen leaf drifts downward
caressing the water's surface,
all tethered in perfect symmetry
each with their own special purpose.
As crickets sang their midnight
song I sat silently in awe,
tranquilized by nature's calm
mesmerized by what I saw.

So beautifully written. Nature can sure do that to us, except for those intermittent times when it's very harsh or scary, nature seems to be most relaxed most of the time.

You put me in a trance! This poem oozes peace...it would be nice if more people took time to sit "silently in awe."
