Coincidences

I believe everything happens for a reason.

 Coincidences 

 
I don't put my faith in coincidences
everything happens for a reason,
we laugh we cry 
live and die
and everyone needs something 
to believe in.
 
The moment of déjà vu that
took you by surprise,
might mean something more
than you ever hoped for
a hidden message 
your heart can't deny.
 
Coincidences only happen
to those afraid to believe,
we're part of plan
we may never understand
some things were just meant to be.

I happened upon this poem by coincidence. While I don't "believe" its primary premise, because simple laws of probability would indicate that coincidences happen all the time and don't have to be "planned" to happen, I do believe in the right of the poet to express her opinion on the matter in a poem well presented. Good job.

I can take things as they are, whatever happens happens be it good or bad. There are coincidences, and some don't end like I'd like them to be either.

The novel I am working on now is geared toward those two lines of thought, although my thoughts concerning them run along the lines of reincarnation . . .
