I may speak with tongues of men and angels,
No love, clashing brass and cymbals tinkle.
Prophesies, know and understand all mysteries
No love! The surface dent’s a wee dimple.
I may have faith to move great mountains,
Yet have I not love, I am nothing. Simple!
I gave all my goods to feed the hungry poor
Yet I did it just to impress some people
With all my work and efforts I am all burnt out;
With body marks and scars, all in wrinkle.
How from these deeds will I be ever gain profit?
If when true Love comes, they’re gone in a twinkle.
