its been a long time since i managed to convince words to stick together...

do not give me your heart
so wrecklessly
for, like the domino
that ruins the fall

     i have no understudy

like cigarettes that burn too quickly

     i have no understudy

remember
back when we were awfully young,
and awfully everything else,
how expressions [of love] were giddy

and yet now i'm just another corset
and you are short of breath

     i am no understudy
     but rather slowly falling ash

when am i not a goodbye...?

Life is delicate and relationships can experience many storms. You always express your heart so articulately. Welcome back!

Wrap the gift of your heart with great sensibility and care. Let not just anyone enter into there. Your self esteem will eventually tattle when someone unworthy, gathers there. Perception of self, is often deceiving. Most are far better than their perception. Very interesting poem and thoughts. Jon Michael Willey

How sadly revealing as we peek into one's soul. Yet, it rings true of wisdom and beauty......

Be always safe,

its been moons since i read of your wrods, and they taste so gently broken.beautiful. ...
when we were --fully young. ..
this inebreates [sp?] and constricts the heart; the crunch of time and bones and ribs and cages.....and you should be confined to none of those.
so glad, SO GLAD you posted.
youa re truly a talent
such soft echoed thoughts and streamlined verses. ..
succinct and subtle.
so glad :}

No, no no. JD, you are never a goodbye or understudy.

The poem is perfect, kinda like your soul.

Fag, metaphor is brillo, but say giday to such a loser,

for you are always a hello. A ding dong nothing wrong

the others say you look good in a thong.

Kewl to see you front.....xx

Nicely done, Cedric. The analogies you've written came together very well. It's nice to see your pen's ink is flowing again.

Have a wonderful day.

I love this--these--analogies: the corset, the understudy, the dominoes... I love reading your poetry. It always leaves me a bit "short of breath". --So glad these words stuck together. --Charlie

Cedric, it is good to see you posting again my friend, been too long but understand all too well, this poem is deeply moving as the writer reflects on the past, to understand the present and perhaps to prepare for the future. Very nicely done.

Welcome back Cedric the Third, and I see you arrive with a bag full of optimism? WOW, shouldn't we take a cup of tea and discuss it a little?
