Sonata

Music is the proper language of love.

Just as the violin sonata
I hear in the morning
Fresh from the shower
Sunlight breaking
In waves
Of pure motion
Upon the holy river of consciousness

Just as I recall
Your lingering
Sighs upon the night
When lights were turning
To stardust and magic pinions
Opened to tremulous ecstacy

I knew the last note
Was there in the distance
On a road I had never walked
On a day I would always remember

As being more luminous
Then all the rest

Because it held the secret
That was you
