Sitting out on the front porch
heard a sound so familiar to me
She sang out loud so I could hear her
coming my way, skipping and singing a tune
every morning she would stop and stare
squeezing the dirt between her bare toes
heard a giggle coming out
she turned away from me
stopping long enough to blow me a kiss
she was a child of seventeen
