even grass left walt whitman
Sometimes the words escape me
falling on deaf ears
I am guilty as charged
between the rain drops
sprinkled with magic dust
and star glow
like nailing jelly to a tree
simile and metaphor
leave me
lines dart across a page
both right and wrong
accents and ideas
angel and devil
critics and ex-wife’s
am I just the hairy gorilla
the dancing bear?
can’t speak can’t write
white knuckled and well worn
skydiving through life
catch me as I fall
red ink parachutes
cross examined and exiled
and seldom understood
excuses and ideas
misplaced adverbs catch me
netting me
suspicion lost loves linger
images are frozen
and crooked teeth
turn death on a page
bleeding lines cross
and re-cross
melon headed me
only the wooden box awaits
eternal sleep
