Aw, thanx you guys! It makes me go all goosey to know that some of you share my passion for music - especially for Matchbox 20, so forgive the indulgence on a rainy UK Sunday afternoon of reposting Sphinx, which is based on their song "Push". It was actually triggered on a visit to the Egyptian Rooms at the British Museum... yep, clear as the Nile, I know!! :)) Hope your Angel's lighting up your path today. xx
SPHINX
Please don't do it -
that thing that you do
that makes me want to suck
your insides out, starting with
your voice, your breathing.
Please don't make me
fall, crashing and beating
my tiny, clenched fists against
the ever-expanding expanse
of your chest,
kneading your shoulders.
Please don't cause me
to have to drag you down,
here and now, central
in this public place
and absorb you right into me:
carry you foetal beneath my skin
seven inches deep.
We are bones fused and ignited:
yours and mine.
Pounded into such fine dust,
pollen on the wind
unable to contain life's
tumult and energy within
the frail confines of flesh.
We are bones fused and ignited:
yours and mine.
Pounded into such fine dust,
pollen on the wind
unable to contain life's
tumult and energy within
the frail confines of flesh.

There are times when I detest the one who has managed to worm his way beneath my skin...I could just scratch myself bloody trying to get him out of there...but then things change and suddenly he is welcome again. Excellent write, Kate!
Take care,
Sherry
Well, I don't know about the group you mention, but I like this wild and gritty poem. :-)
