TO THE VICTOR
He cast down her defences,
stone by stone;
ripped through bars
that obscured her sight;
tore the heavy drapes
that blocked all daylight;
threw wide the long-locked doors.
Having conquered her inner fortress,
it was then by invitation
that he parted the soft cotton,
unhooked the delicate lace
it seems to me that "she" is the victor for she has allowed her being to break down her walls and expose herself, ultimately inviting "him" to the experience the surface of her being ...
an excellent poem of trust, breaking away the veil of vunerability ...
WOW! American slang for "damn this is good". What insight you have into the human psyche, Kate. The last line is brings it home in more ways than one...Lin (;
this is a really profound piece that makes one wonder how many layers of deep intensity are you weaving in this poem so casually written but deeply felt.
Oh! I love this, Kate. I think there are moments in our life when each of us has been her. Our defenses up, keeping our hearts and emotions so guarded, but with the temptation of love breaking through the barriers, we decide to trust one more time. Fabulous write!!
