Brilliant first stanzas, most intriguing finish...
Absolutely fascinating, Kate...and what visuals you have penned for my mind and it's artful eye...I can see the water swirling and your own mind churning in the light and colors of imagination and etched, stemmed crystal. Such an elegance to the mystery you create.

What a pleasure as always to read your work. At the moment I feel like the wandering minstrel and I don't settle in one place long enough to call it home. This crazy lifestyle has prevented me from regularly coming in and reading your work but when I do have time to read, I always head for your den. It's a constant source of inspiration to me. This poem is yet another gem. You're a bigger source of gems than the great hole in Kimberly. You're da bomb!

what a write my friend, much said within these lines. You write with so much passion and emotion, the unknown offspring of her childless son...I know someone whom this write describes as if it were wrote for her. Great write my friend, enjoyed the depth of it!

shifts vast sands of time and place."
Those first two lines set the scene of exploration into the life of the narrator. Excellent writing, Kate. But then again... I'm not surprised. I've learned to expect it from you. Sensitive, speculative, inquiring soul coupled with good writing skills. Great combination. Happy New Year to you, and thank you for sharing this fine piece of writing.
Not much in life slips by you, Kate, as your senses are keen and all that you see tells its story through your beautiful and creative words. This poem evokes so many emotions, much like stepping into the attic of an old abandoned house and finding the treasures of many generations past. Each item a feast for the imagination to play upon...a yellowed christening gown, a faded photo of a bride and groom, an old wooden train, button up shoes and a very worn doll made out of scraps of cloth. These are the kinds of feelings that I sensed as you wondered about any possible connection to who you are and that etched piece of glass. Excellent writing, Happy New Year to you and your family, Kate!
