Poem Artwork

Look beyond the sadness in my eyes
For they are a farce to cover up more of me
Don’t let my smile fool you for beyond it
Is a voice with honesty you may not want to hear?

Don’t be frightened by my knowledge
It took me a long time to reach this point
And I may surprise you at what lays in wait
Beyond all this bleach down deep into the black roots

Ancestry is hid behind a box of blonde dye
Green-blue eyes given by my mother makes one
Unaware of what’s inside here thinking me the fool
Just because I smile and look at you behind sad eyes

Heartache makes one learn the ways of the world in compassion
Thieves make one realize possessions mean nothing at all
Beauty is seen in the true honest love of the child
That is untouched by the evils of man on his given world

I have seen this sadness, if I could wish anything in this world it would be that happiness would shine from every eye.... this poem is wonderfully expressed, certainly a masterpiece of emotion. Sandi

Wow, poignantly powerful write, Theresa, and the picture is wonderful!!! I love to take photos of the sky and clouds, the variances in color, shape and nuance fascinate me continuously! They are very hard to paint in water color, though! Happy New Year to you, Theresa.
