Bed of One's Making

Frankie
made me laugh,
was his gift,
unconventionally
attractive,
but in his eyes
I saw myself
smiling,
and that was
enough.

Chris
had a 6 inch tongue,
hell-bent on pleasing
long after
I was through,
but could never
fault a man
for providing
too much pleasure,
even with no
personality,
his licks were
enough.

Mark
never knew much
about romance
or finding time
to spend
with me,
but he was good
at spending money
to lavish me not
with praise,
but gifts,
showered in gems,
not shared
stalls,
and at the time,
his credit cards were
enough.

Randy
could never get words
past the bottle of beer
stuck to his lips,
yet his arms
held me
and spoke
to my heart,
penetrating my eyes
with his own,
seeing and reaching
beyond
the surface,
touching my soul
with his embrace,
the only one
who ever really
made me
feel special,
and
alcoholism aside,
when he loved me
that was
enough.

I could inscribe
the names
of many more
if I hadn't lost
track of life

of them

lost sight
of what mattered
before it was
too late
for regrets,
before breath
eeked its last
sigh from my body,
suffocated me
in my own
slice of death.

Now I sit upon
a hillside,
overlooking the living,
wishing it had not
been so short,
my hours
so wasted,
that I had loved,
not just taken

that what I am now
left with
was simply
enough

that I would not
have been dead

long before

I finally

died.

So Ann for all intents and purposes you were a "sl**", sorry just kidding, but it that is all you did in your life and now you feel dead, then honey you did it all, had one hell of a life, and I envy each and every guy or you for that matter...enjoy you death, it is the only time in your life that you slept, or so it seems...Peace, Ed & rufuz :)}

I guess one must be loved in order to feel loved....given love in order to give love....the sad thing is...one must have only to feel dead....in order to die....this is an excellent piece of writing...BRAVO!...Thanx for sharing....Peace Abel
