Fine descriptive poem Michelle, and made particularly vivid by the fact that you comment on the downside of the life you are looking at, the isolation and hoplessness. Too many writers sentimentalise "the simple life", forgetting that simple does not necessarily mean problem - free.

A peace comes through your verses, Michelle, as I imagine what it was like for you to be there. To see that not so much has changed there over the years, other than those who so loved that place have been laid to rest in the very place where they were probably born. In many ways, life was so much simpler then, yet in other ways it was also incredibly difficult. The most precious part of it all is the sense of family that will always be there for you when you recall your visit to your ancestral lands.

Michelle, this is great. Taking the good with the bad, but finding the comfort in it all. I just love the feel of this. It paints a picture.
