~`~The lack of reciprocated emotions within a relationship, leads to heartbreak~`~

These of course are just my views !

 When Roses Cry

Love is indeed not a toy,
neither is it a game,
it should be treated like roses,
should be nurtured
and nourished,
fed and watered daily,
cared for and respected.
It is certainly something
no one should take lightly.
It is one of the most intense feelings
that we as humans
should truly be able to
or be capable
of understanding.
Often though,
feelings may well be misunderstood,
which may lead to great heartache and misery.
Where one may have
profound feelings for another,
and then led through a maze of
intricate deceit,
but believing that there is honesty
and reciprocated emotions
only to find out
that this is not the case.
What ever the motives
or indiscretions,
untold lies, are the steps to
great sadness
when you are left
and discarded like an old used rag.

I liken this to
where once love
flourished like a blooming rose garden,
unfortunately
time may have weathered
said rose garden.
Where nourishment
and loving tender care
for the beauty of what once flowered,
fell by the wayside,
depleting the earth
of nutrients and nourishment.
Therefore ,
leaving the soil arid and dry,

when roses cry !
then
an occasional rose being born,
soon to perish,
leaving behind
only thorny wooded stalks.

You see me clapping my hands.
This is beautifully written, yet so true. Many people take love for granted, don't see how much attention it needs not to die.
Excellent

Elga...this is a very profound write...you have captured the very essence of a rose...and if I read this correctly how something so beautiful can symbolize love and love unreturned or betrayed...great poem...Fletcher B

Love, as I experienced or read from books of rmance, is the eyes of those who have a human heart but it has different languages, quite many languages, thousandas or million languages and dialects. The people who share love should not only know their behaviours but they should also know what love language the other speaks. One husband, for instance is fond of buying presents to his wife but the wife does not know or understand love that way. She thinks her husband is serious only if he appreciates the way she changes the settings of the house. If she finds him not giving attention to her efforts to introduce new decorations/arts in the walls of the sitting room she will not accept him as a true partner no matter how much flowers he had bought for her over the week. So here we see that they speak different love languages and that is why we often see love dying at the doorsteps of romance. Thanks Elga for sharing this soul-touching poem

Very good. In my observation, love seems to forget its true purpose. Nice job.

Judging by the many wonderful comments you have received for this delightful and sad poem I'd venture to say the subject matter pulls us all in different directions. All I know is that love not reciprocated soon dies on the vine. This is indeed a marvelous poem and is one of your best if that is possible.

Truly breathtaking, and it sure is hard to trust another after being that used rag..

They say it is better to have loved and lost, I think not.

The feelings this wells is powerful. Rejection is the worse feeling on earth, when one has given all. Tigger is write, true love never dies.

Elga, this is breathtaking!
You have beautifully described the angst that befalls
one when bereft of an honest return of love.

Exceptional write Elga! I understand this well as I'm sure all who love or have loved do. However there are so many convoluted and confusing perceptions about love that we can only write of certain aspects of it but never totally cover it. There are many who think they are in love only to find out they are mistaken. Others don't know how to love or are too afraid to . They are in kust often times when they think it's love. And so it goes. Yours is a wonderful poem of some of the reasons that love dies.True love however never dies even when it is rejected.

Elga, you are a remarkable human being! Poet, I believe love never dies once it is given freely to another human being. One can love and cherish more than one human being at a time. When one smothers the other with disrespect, jealousy and/or contempt, that is when showing the precious gift of love that I feel at least everyone should always possess within themselves, and are willing to share with anyone they come in contact with more often than not, then gets placed on the back burner. I know I possess enough love inside me to fill the planet. However, it doesn’t mean I can’t love anyone less or more than any other human being in my life at one time. I value all my friends and love them with everything I have, and I am not afraid, nor am I ashamed of showing it. I also believe sharing love is not a game but an ongoing desire to see, feel and help anyone who happens to come into my short life span, and I give willingly, a piece of my soul to anyone whom I feel deserves it. My Mother always taught me, that it isn’t wrong to love more than one person. But, any form of love, which is abused for deceitful purposes is absolutely wrong, and then that love and commitment I feel or felt towards someone is no longer a viable option. I could fill volumes of books about love, yet, I will say this is an open forum, you have a pure soul and are filled with love, and I hope you or anyone else who reads this, never stops reaching out for it or sharing it with anyone else they come in contact with. I love your work and I do consider you my friend, and I wish nothing but the best for you and yours. Thank you for sharing your talent, Poet.

Always with respect and admiration.

Love starves without constant nourishment. Even old love burns in the heart as it dies even slower. Without enforcement the heart is left to make it's own reasoning. That is never a good thing. I enjoyed the wisdom of this poem and agree 100%.
Sometimes people are too lazy to say or even prove how they feel Then when the love is gone they wonder what happened? What did I do wrong?

the rose garden of love certainly needs to be nurtured but when the weather of misunderstanding interferes, clarity of feelings should always be an option before the roses totally wither ...

extrememly heartfelt, powerful poem ...

A very intense, painful and well expressed poem, Elga! Who knows why love dies or why it isn't reciprocated? Love is a very complicated thing, capable of growing, stagnating or dying and sometimes, no matter how one tries, that love cannot be rekindled. However, I think, one should love with all one's heart and savor, respect and enjoy said love while one has it. If it should be lost ... then, at least you've had and enjoyed that experience. Be not bitter, for if you truly love someone, you'll be happy that that loved one is seeking and enjoying his/her own happiness. Be a beautiful rose bush ... and bloom again!

it should be treated like roses,
should be nurtured
and nourished,

Profoundly true, and if it isn't, it does wither and die like the rose.

Excellent! I loved this one.
Yes,love should be treated like roses, gently.
Love is a rose and it is so sad to see the rose discarded
as if it is just a weed. The good news is (I guess) new blooms
are always just a season away. All your poem was wise and true.
Best wishes
