~~This is dedicated to my loving son~~

 My Child

From the moment of conception
I carried you inside,
Never quite believing
This gift that I’d call mine.

No feelings of the sickness
that mornings, others felt
I’ll thank heavens above,
that card was never dealt.

Weeks they passed without event,
I never even knew,
that all the while inside of me,
was growing the little you.

First flutters that I felt
stirred emotions deep within,
was there really something there,
or just a wild imagining ?

To term I should’ve have carried you,
But afoot were other plans,
so I held you sooner,
within my loving hands.

Could the cause of it have been,
whilst in the seventh month,
tripping down a flight of steps,
I landed with a thump.

You didn’t want to tarry there,
and you’d no longer sleep,
so in the eighth month,
you came the world to greet.

A perfect little boy,
and a little button nose
five pounds forty five,
I was blessed to have and hold.

Though years have passed
and you have grown
No more the babe you used to be,
I thank God for every moment,

this Gift,

“My Child”

he gave to me.

Elga, this is a shinning example of another exceptionally well-written piece of priceless poetry and memories waiting to caress the pages of your remarkable Den, which only further illustrates your powerful inner strength and compassionate being one needs to bring and raise a child. Although it was sad reading that you fell, thank goodness your son was born without complications. I have always encouraged anyone who is giving birth that the Father also be in the birthing room. I feel it not only comforts the Mother but it also enables the Father to begin bonding and sharing the awesome responsibly one needs to raise a child. I was in the operating room with my ex-wife while all three our children were born. Matter of fact, once they came out of the oven, I was the first one to hold them and then I thanked her for giving me such precious gifts. I am glad that only women have the necessary compartments needed to give birth and are way better at nurturing children then men. If it were up to us, we would all be trouble because after seeing what a woman goes through, I’d rather have someone pummel me with a baseball bat, before I’d ever want to go through the lengthy process a woman does. Oh well, I guess I’ve rambled on enough my friend. Thank you for helping me travel back in time when I could hold my child in the palm of my hand. However, now they keep threatening me that there going to put me in an old folks home …lol. Thanks for sharing your remarkable talents and precious memories. May you and yours always be comforted and safe. Be well my friend.
