Away to the westward,
I'm longing to be
where the beauties of paradise ,
unfold by the sea
and the sweet purple heather,
blooins fragrant and free
on a hill-top,
high above the Misty Islands
So gentle the sea breeze,
that ripples the bay
where the stream joins the ocean,
and young children play
on a strand of pure silver,
I'll welcome each day
and I'll roam forever more,
my heart's desire
True gem of the Hebrides,
bathed in the light
like a midsummer dawning,
that follows the night
how I long for the cry,
of the seagulls in flight
as they circle high above
those heavenly shores
Oh how I yearn
for those blue Gaelic eyes
that awakened love
deep within my soul
so pure and tender
with a loving Scottish smile
alas , time flies
and love must part
still there grows
an undying vine
that holds us together
come what may
One of those lovely poems written with traditional graceful flair that the reader pauses to recite once or twice, well, maybe just over and over. LOL. Great, Peter.

Peter, this would be so lovely if I had not first endured two decades of date rape hell before finding a man who at least hasn't criminally molested me or left our commitment to marriage. Such a waste of life's possibilities. No longer in the mood. They really should dress the girls with some decent respect and not just the boys. Perhaps you can remember that in your outreach to others.
Never been to Scotland or to the 500 mystical islands that lie off its northwestern coast. But you have painted a picture so beautiful and serene, that has transported me there on a magical carpet of your words.
