WHISPERED PROMISES

of romance

tease the passion of the night

pulling heartstrings gently

that was held inside so tight

nudging cupids arrows with a breeze

innuendos back and forth

wishing life weren’t so lonely

knowing what the price is worth

lips smiling thinking lewdly

hearts flutter with the thought

wondering how it could be

these feelings long forgot

whispered promises of romance

tease the passion of the night

say goodbye and sweet dreams darling

we know that it’s not right.

This reminds me of the one and only time I said something almost suggestive to my secretary. She looks at me with that coy, almost unbelieving expression that women can perform, saying. "Why, you old romantic!" Somehow, the word, "old" was a kick in the balls for my ego which was 20 or more years her senior, I couldn't pursue the invitation.

I enjoyed every line of this provocative poem. Good work. - Bill

Felix,
I read this through the eye of the hopeless flirt I've always been. It's simply comes as a second nature for me. But with that said, there really is nothing wrong with a bit of flirtation as long as one sets and respects the boundaries.
This is a wonderful write, and you've made it exciting.

Teasing is fine, acting on sparks of desire with others, when we have spouses, is not. It sure is a fun little dance, though. I think the thrill of the flirt is the best part anyway, because no matter how much fun it is, it will never be a substitute for the depths of love we feel with the one we have chosen to spend our lives with.
Take care,
Sherry
