Sometimes love can be so one sided...

Lover’s Questions

When red roses fall from the heavens

When the winds play a Brahms lullaby

When snows taste like marshmallows

I’ll still think of you and wonder why

If I said one more time I love you

If I had held your hand tighter in mine

If I had listened to your broken heartbeat

Would I still have your love through time

Did you forget me like a bad day-dream

Did you wipe your memories of me clean

Did you cast aside what our love promised

I don’t know how you could be so mean

Questions, questions, questions

All that’s left of you and me

Questions and an aching emptiness

Of what can never be!

Kinda like the feelings and questions I had about my first love. There is no way we can get a reasonable answer to those questions. And eventually the aching emptiness subsides. Very good. Karen

Heartbreaking and desolate, Felix. We can all understand something of this, whatever our circumstance. Perhaps the key is not to take the "fizzle" as personal failure... chemistry has a lot to do with these things, I think, and people's make-up shifts and changes over time until the "final" formula is somehow shaken down. Therefore everyone metamorphoses, and that doesn't mean to say that the "who you are" is somehow rejected, but just that the chemistry has changed and adjustments have to be made. Everyone lives and grows and we have to adapt around each other. The painful thing is either in the choosing to do so... or not, as the case may be. One always hopes and prays that the relationship will continue to stand, but, if it doesn't, then that doesn't invalidate what you yourself are or what has gone before. I am speaking as one metamorphosing person to another here, so sorry to working out my own mental gymnastics around your poem, but that's the nature of your words at work, isn't it?! You are beautiful, Felix... don't allow the shifting sand of someone else's pysche to tell you otherwise. God bless, Kate xx

Oh I liked this so very much, so many questions we all ask at one time or another, excellent.

as love loses its validity the questions we are forced to ask are painful indeed ...

Like the shock of death.
Heartbreak is the death of such a beautiful dream leaving us chasing echos...chasing.
I still hear them.
Heartbreaking poem indeed.

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
