Walk the walk

It’s Time My Friends

See the child crying because he is hungry

Hear his extended belly growl in pain

See his mother’s empty lifeless eyes

Echo his hunger and hang her head in shame

See the boy’s father face down in the street

Another third world country rabid rebel

Or was the food inside the fancy store

For a father too much temptation to expel

Oh, of course we hear their cries of hunger,

We see all the news reports of famine and war

And if we all dig just a little deeper in our pockets

Maybe the innocent families won’t suffer any more

Perhaps the child’s stomach will be filled

The mother’s eyes smile with love once again

The father won’t have to resort to robbery

To end his young son’s hunger pain

Didn’t Jesus teach us how to share?

When he divided the bread and wine

Let’s walk the walk not just talk the talk

It’s time my friends it’s time.

Yes, we all should dig a little deeper, but not only for the children. I'm all for taking care of our own before sending food and money to other countries. If all countries did that they could take better care of their own. It is not only the war, but the drug problem that causes a lot of people(young and old alike) to go hungry. I just wish that I could come up with a solution to rid the world of it's problems. This poem is an eye opener for sure. Karen

Standing "O", Pops... it is actually sobering how LITTLE in terms of real cost it would take to end world poverty: if the funds of even a TINY amount from among the top 10% of world earners was directed and channelled appropriately, things would change overnight in terms of funds available. But sadly it is both the internal and external politics that keep money from where it is needed... and other issues that maintain a status quo that prevents progress being made. Fundamentally there are so many corrupt powers that prove humanity is more like "dog eat dog" - and I will have EdK on my back for insulting canines - but you know what I mean. All that being said, that doesn't excuse us from digging way deeper and from doing what we can to pressure for change: being aware of what is actually going on in the world would help with "head in the sand"-ers, like me. Timely and gracious, Pops, as always from your all-caring, big heart. Right behind you, Kate xx

You are right Felix, it is time, but how do we talk their governements into letting them have it when it is sent? That's the highest hurdle to jump..and so far, we haven't managed to clear it.
A caring and beautiful message from a caring and beautiful soul!

I do believe that nobody should be denied food water and shelter, but many governments make getting those very things to the people who need them, impossible. They take what is sent and either sell it or use it themselves leaving the masses to wallow in filth and starvation. Powerful words, Felix.
Take care,
Sherry

Yes. Simple food, enough to eat, existing health care spread among the very most needy is a priority need in our world. What's holding up the delivery? Good poem, Felix. Henry

There is a person in our area that is teaching his youth in his church to glean. I will be back with an thing about that. Well done Felix.

Felix,

Yes, it is time--it is past time we get off our high horses and feed and clothe those less fortunate, not only in times of disaster. Thank you for saying this so beautifully, powerfully and succinctly. I hear you, Brother!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
