Home to Newfoundland
I found a part of me I’d thought I’d lost
On the rock bound coast of Newfoundland
It felt like so much like coming home again
I hope to make you try to understand
The people there make you feel welcome
Like you are lost brothers and sisters found
Their laughter and happiness is infectious
The food no where else so fine can be found
Things like fish and brewis and figgy’s duff
Even a fine jigs dinner for a just a few
Bolagna with your eggs at breakfast
Some partridge berry jam on toast too
Music of the squeeze box, fiddle and guitar
Fill the night air on St. George Street
Where a hundred bars line the lane
Old and new friends all you’ll greet
The great ships coming up the harbour
Following old St John’s guiding light
The jelly bean coloured rows of houses
Children’s blocks tumbling bright
So much history in this island
Where the Vikings eased their thirst
Where John Cabot anchored off shore
And the Mayflower stopped here first
Newfoundland the home of my mother
The mother I hold in my heart so dear
As I walked in footsteps she once thread
I felt her loving spirit with me there
I tell you Friends I swear it’s true
If it’s a place to feel at home you need
Newfoundland is our new world’s paradise
It truly is indeed….indeed!
welcome back felix,
though I wasn't here when you left .,....I can still say;
welcome back and good write.

Welcome back; you've been missed.
I've never been to Newfoundland, but you bring it vividly to life in your excellent words; well done!
