The Bluenoser

Why yes me good sir, I am quite proud to say

I’m a true Bluenoser from down Nova Scotia way

What is a Bluenoser, you’d like to know

Sit a spell I’ll tell you, if you’ve nowhere to go

Where Nova Scotia’s shores hit the Atlantic Sea

The winds from the North so cold I tell ye

Ice forms on your face tell you’re blue with the cold

Been like that forever at least that’s what I’m told

We were sailors of schooners, wind racers of sail

Fishermen, traders and even delivers of mail

Ice and snow our companions, fogs deathly chill

Six months of winter, a Bluenoser’s has to fill

So they call us by that name and I’m proud to say

I’ll be a Bluenoser till my dying day.

Felix,

Well now, Bluenoser, thanks for the much anticipated break from the Texas heat...92 degrees yesterday; 62 today. Now I'm a Bluenoser just...like...you. :)

An excellent write, captivating meter and rhyme endears the reader to your tale. :) Well done, my friend!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Nice write, Felix and thanks for the history lesson. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the title was freezing cold that made the nose blue. I could not stand that kind of blustery cold. I have been weather spoiled most of my life and just felt punished when I lived in the Midwest and had to deal with that kind of bone chilling, damp, freezing weather.
Take care,
Sherry

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
