Sweet Oblivion
She wonders and fights tears as she lays in the dark
Well the beating when he returns leave a visible mark
Well he walk in with a sweet smile or an angry look
She knows his manic ways so well like an open book
Last time he raped her and beat her black and blue
Yesterday he bought her roses and chocolates too
Then he left for the store he said for milk and bread
Now it’s another night and she wishes that she were dead
She knows she should leave but fear holds her on track
She tried once before but he only dragged her back
Black and blue bruises she hid beneath her clothes again
He’d never scar her pretty face he knows that’s insane
She picks up the vial of sleeping pills from the night table
Opens the cap and upends the bottle while she’s still able
A half glass of warm gin to make it not seem like a sin
As she closes her eyes and fades off into sweet oblivion!
Thank you!

Shattering write--I agree, ZERO TOLERANCE. Well penned heartbreak.
