The little girl looked up at her daddy
Said I know you have to go
But can you buy me something
So I won’t forget to know
That my daddy loves me deeply
Like you just told me so
A teddy bear would do just fine
Then I will let you go…
The father’s arms did tremble
As he hugged her to his breast
His teardrops burned like acid
Though to smile he did his best
He said I’d buy you moonbeams
Heck I’d buy for you the moon
To hold our hearts together
Till I see you again real soon
So yea I’ll buy you a stuffed toy
Anyone you choose just from me
I’ll fill him full of extra love
So next to you I’ll always be
The other day that little girl got married
Down the aisle with her the father walked
Tears of happiness shared together
She held on close and they quietly talked
She said look their beside your seat Dad
An old friend of ours is here
The father looked and to his surprise
There sat that worn and ragged goodbye teddy bear.
Love Tinka
when they have fathers like you!
I love this piece, Fee.
There is just something so precious of the bond between a father and daughter, and you have captured it's essence so wonderfully in this write.
She treasured that bear and still does, though the Goodbye reads two ways to me. When you left her years before, it was a Goodbye bear just for you and her, at her wedding, it became a Goodbye bear, as she became joined with her spouse. You'll always be the Dad!!
SOBS...I so miss mine!!
Love n hugs teddy bear Fee
