the child walks the path of misery
abandoned left to destiny
too young to understand empathy
lost to our sight in infancy
bomb and mortar, bullet and gun
obscure the sky, hide the sun
child steps alone, steps one by one
Knows not laughter or childhood fun
sells her bits for food to eat
a place to rest her weary feet
to the soldiers pressed so neat
the price is paid by her defeat
alone again in the early morn
death silence comes to mourn
in nine months a child is born
spinning wheel filled with scorn
Thank you for sharing this,
Jill

Sad...but well done.
