Big thanks and Seasons Greetings to Karen and Jess, this work was suggested by Karen and after thinking about it this was what came to mind...

My Lonely Needles Shed

A month ago, was it only a month ago

I stood in forest tall, green and proud

Shelter to the rabbit, fox and deer

Part of nature’s majesty for all to share

A week ago, was it just one week ago

I was stood in a place of honor

Dressed in ribbons, ornaments and light

Anticipating Christmas night

Ah yesterday, was it only yesterday

Gifts and presents stacked all around

Smiles and laughter did abound

My soul fluttered gaily with the sound

Today, it was just today I know

My spirit waned I must admit

People came and votes were cast

Comments of needles drop, my sagging fast

Next week, next week, will soon arrive

I’ll be stripped bare and naked barely alive

Curbside thrown, like last weeks trash

Used and abused paid for in cash

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree…

Fee, this is awesome. Life through the eyes of a Christmas tree. I have goosebumps up and down my arms. So very well done.
Love,
CJ

At least some trees are used to our satisfaction.
I agree with you on the trees that are cut never
to be decorated to honor the season and a birth.
Excellent write,Fee.
Gods Speed,

Michael

Just a quick note, I am not against people having real trees, this is my first year for not having one to be truthful. I am just suggesting that maybe if you are getting one you perhaps go to a cut your own place where there is no wastage and new trees are being grown constantly to replace what is used, it is not the individual tree use that is so troubling but the number of trees (thousands that are not sold on the lots and end up as landfill.

we live in the lands that grow and harvest christmas trees, air lifted with helicopters onto staging areas, loaded by the thousands onto trucks to supply most of the west coast...it is big business and it is a tradition I have never personally been able to embrace...

So sad Felix, but the truth spoken again, The tree that showed such beauty ends up at the end of the drivway toss to the garbage, so sad all because someone wanted a real tree, I know why I use the artificial one.Love your Cuz, Rose XOXO

The Christmas tree is reminder of Jesus, He was God, came to earth decked with human flesh, only to be sold and crucified. Great thoughts. Victor

it's a shame when nature's beautiful pine trees are used for traditional ornament ... the needles are tears for their skeletal renains ...

It makes me feel sad to see a tree the day after Christmas, with no brightly wrapped presents beneath it. I too am guilty of using an artificial tree, but that is because of health reasons in our home. The beautifully adorned trees stand tall and look so sad, like saying their reason for being here is over and now they aren't wanted anymore. Thanks for writing this. Karen and Jess

As much as I love the smell of a fresh tree, I no longer buy one. For me it is not the dropped needles, which can be a pain to clean up and get out of the rug, but more the thought of needlessly taking the life of the tree and wasting it, just to amuse myself. In my last house I had many pine and spruce trees in the yard from which I would take cuttings to bring the "Smell of Christmas" inside. I have tried buying those living trees, but for some reason, they aren't usually living very long after the holiday season. (nevermind that my cats have always thought the smell of fresh dirt in the house was meant to be their own private litterbox) So now I have resigned myself to an artificial tree and some sweet smelling branches or a wreath to allow me to connect to the scents of the season. This is a wonderful poem from the tree's perspective, and hopefully, now from a few of your readers, as well.
Take care,
Sherry

This is beautiful and if I were a Christmas tree...I'd want to go to the beaches and be used to build up the dunes...Yep! That would do it for me.

I appreciate your fine Mind and Muses.

Love,
Susan
