Another Sea Story

Poem Artwork

When the North winds tear like banshees

Cross the Atlantic Ocean’s waters deep

As she cries so angered and mournful

So much like a lost child’s weary weep

When the waves crash o’er the bow rail

Till you have to hold your breath and stay

A piece of rope hooked to a stanchion

That’s when you heed the need to pray

When you feel that great ship a’heavin

Like it’s very bowels are about to burst

See splintered lifeboats in the water

And deep down fear this ain’t the worst

When the lights go out in the wheelhouse

Lost beacon in Satan’s cauldron of demise

You tie that rope a little tighter

Beg God’s forgiveness for past lies

Then round the headland the ship heaves to

The Bay’s open arms welcome Neptune’s loss

In the lea of time this place so fine

Dropped anchors hold us now from roll and toss

With heads bowed deep to God we weep

Our everlasting thanks for all he gave

Especially on that day as in days of old

You calmed the waters and the wave.

Mostly, it is in times of trouble, when we shout out for His help and look to be relieved of such troubled waters and hopes for the calm seas, once again! But I say to you too...we should still be shouting in the calm, How Glorious is His name!
Great Write Fee!
A keeper for me...
Love and Peace~

Metaphorically speaking this could give a picture of our life, full of troubles and woes. Our haven is in His arms. Great imagery and vision plus a great message. Victor

Rough and angry seas certainly do make us take notice of how nature always has the upper hand. All you can do is ride the storm out and pray that she has not decided that it is your time to go to a watery grave. Excellent image rich poem, Felix.
Take care,
Sherry

I enjoyed this Fee on two levels, ...spiritually soothing and uplifting for His constant presence is the rock we cling to during any of our storms and also, I just savoured the 'shanty' aspect to this write. Wonderfully graphic and very moving. Great stuff Fee, Panda :)

Beautiful write my friend, yes He did calm the trouled seas just as he can calm our troubled souls, minds, and hearts today. Just as in the day of old when Peter began to sink while walking on the water because he took his eyes off of God...today if we keep our eyes on Him...he will calm our troubles and as Peter actually walked on water, we can actually walk through the storms of life unharmed. Your write is fantastic and an inspiration to the reader. He is still alive and living in my heart!
Blessings,
