I Will Kiss Him Goodbye

A mother finds it hard to say goodbye to her only son...

With apron clutched in trembling hands

She caught a glimpse of him through his door

Inside her mother’s heart felt torn apart

Knowing this time he’d be going for sure

He was her pride and joy, once her baby boy

She’d once cradled him in her arms loved his charms

She watched each step in life he took

Kissed away his pain, taught him pride not shame

Now he was closing that chapter of life’s book

Down the stairs she crept, wiped the tears she wept

She’d made his favorite foods with care, for them to share

Knowing tomorrow he’d be gone, hopefully not to long

For this she hoped, she could cope, without her son still near

Oh my God I know this feeling...for as my son walked out my house yesterday...after a fight with his father again...telling me he will never return.
And I cannot blame him for doing that...wish I could have done the same!!

Thanks for sharing Felix!!

Separation is always hard even with a mother and daughter. It is even worse if the offspring is going to war. We are not spartan are we? Victor

Splendid writing for to loose the apron strings or put on the mantle of manhood, the young man seeks his own destiny. Captivating write.

It's always hard, letting go. This poem is good, Fee. You leave it to your readers to step into the situation, feel the deep emotion and then wonder why he's going, where he's going. Very well done, my friend! The mark of an exceptional writer.

CJ

This are most heartfelt words to say goodbye
To let go of a love one for a mother is very painful
I can so relate to the
Devastation she went through
Your words were well thought out
And expressed how special
And precious mothers love is.
A very heartfelt and emotional write
Love And Peace To You Always ..Morning Star

This tugged at my heartstrings as it is how I know a mother feels. We let our sons go (I have one)but when they go our hearts go with them and we worry about them as if they were still babes as to a mother that is how she always feels.A truly lovely poem Felix...well done and thanks for writing it.
Best wishes
from

Very nice! It's so hard to let go of those we love.
A mother's love is sacred and extra special.
Always giving and caretaking of our babies,
no matter their age!
Be well,
Penny

There is more depth to a mother's heart than can ever be defined. A mother's heart is fearless and can let go for the best even though she's coming apart inside. This is felt inside my own mother's heart!
