The balance of life is such a delicate thing...

Poem Artwork

The Predator

Shreds of flesh, bits of bone

red and white on yellowed fang

The Alpha male feasts tonight

after the killing song he sang

The moon a yellow witness

of the sacrifice of the kill

The wolf the mighty predator

hunger sated now lays still

He’s fed his mistress and

the cubs warm in her den

Contented now he rests

knowing not of camo-men

Till a crack of man made thunder

with a flash of death’s design

The predator is now the prey

the widow’s cubs alone now whine

The hunter becomes the hunted, a reoccurring theme in nature and yet one of which we never tire. A great reminder to us all. Thanks for the splendid read.
