I wish to thank one of my reviewers who inspired this write, hope no one is offended by the use of the language in the last line...

Sappy and Trite

I was told I write sappy romance

That my work is sometimes trite

I thought about it long and hard

Decided maybe they were right

For I don’t plan out every line

With reference books at my side

I free write from my own heart

And I don’t think my heart has lied

I’ve had books that I’ve had published

Composed songs that made folks cry

I’ve written poetry it seems forever

And I’ll keep writing until the day I die

I’ve been critiqued good and bad

In the press and one on one

Hell, every one has an opinion

Sometimes it’s even kind of fun

So yea, maybe at times I get a little sappy

As well at times I may seem a little trite

I just don’t give a f*** what others say

What I feel is what I’m going to write!

... But I thought you LIKED my honesty, Pooh xoxoxoxox :)) Offence at the last line?? Back to your Dark Dream Lady, are we?! She weren't sappy she was pappy... and titillatin...

And wot's that line in little print... ain't got me glasses... does it say "up yours"??!

AND, HO HO HO!!! Just to make a point here, I mentally slipped in a BIG Freudian way to think I was reviewing ANDY.... Won't he just be the happy one!! :)))) LOLOLOL

Guess that means I have no cognitive recognition of what has been meant by the suggestion when it comes to your work, Darlin... and that's the honest truth... for what it's worth... Not HALF as much as your precious writing, Felix, so you just keep pumping it out in the very fine measures that your big heart dictates... Just love it! :)) Kate xx

I love reading your words because
They come right from your heart
And that's the best poetry, the one that
touches the readers soul
and that is what your poetry accomplishes
And a dictionary can never accomplished

And so it should be, my sweet friend! I once wrote "let them read what they think, think what they like..." like it or not, I also wrote that I would go on... yes, writing what I feel. And so I did, and so I do! Joining you in a "middle finger up"...

Fee:

"I just don’t give a fuck what others say" great sentiment!

"Composed songs that made folks cry" -- to elicit feelings, no greater gift. One man's (or woman's) sappy is another's soul.

"What I feel is what I’m going to write!" Can't think of anything else that I could write about.

I've had criticism too, but always with a positive turn. Can't say I like it, but sometimes it improves me. "Sappy and trite" has no positive turn.

My husband always gave me those romantic birthday and anniversay cards - I'd grin and say silly, but I never threw one away. Wouldn't I love one today.

Write on, dear Fee, but like your friend Karen Lynn says "Don't get your blood pressure up" -- you can't afford that.

hugs,
Kathy

Just think of sappy as the sweetness that abounds on maple trees and as far as trite words any poet who writes of love surely is guilty of those same pleasures. Consider the source, respect the writer, find the lesson. Write from your heart, write from your spirit, write from your soul and even when annoyed write from your mind. It needs to be heard also. (((Fee))),

Wasn't it you who told me to write wht I feel? Then do it. :) I don't think your romance is sappy OR trite. I wish I could write romance the way you do! Sigh...but the words just don't come. Please, if not for any one, for me? Keep writing your romance, I will fall even more in love with you and your poetry! 'Kay? Frustrations easily felt and read. Well penned.

"I just don't give a f*** what others say/
What I feel is what I'm going to write!"

You tell 'em, Fee! Good on ya! Rant on, I hear ya.

I happen to love how you write, you write movingly beautiful poetry that touches the soul. (At least mine, and others here, I'm sure.) Anyway, Fee, you felt you needed to rant; seems like quite a few of us have been doing this ourselves, me included. You write for you, and you keep on writing! As long as you write I will read! (And review! :) )

Emotions runnin' high here; a powerful poem you have penned this morning! (Just don't get your blood pressure up, okay? I'll try to keep my b/p under control, too. I can tell when it's up, don't need to get it all crazy now, do we, hmmmm??) Very well done; bravo, Fee!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Very good, my friend.
Critique with the intention of inspire and give a feedback is Ok.
A put-you-down-critique is a waste of time and paper.
You are my brother in letters, and for me you write just fine and I wouldn't change a iota.
But do me a favor, dont get inspired by a schmuck!!!
Georg
